Experimenting at home. Walking the talk to find out what our farmers and graziers are facing when growing a Multi Species Mix.

4 way cash crops
Often MS mixes are used as cover crops. Martin and Darren are working on the CASH crop aspect of growing a Multi Species and it is proving to be a profitable success.

High rainfall area.
High rainfall and exceptional spring/summer growth rate means possibilities are endless. To keep up with the production of forage don’t feel that hay making is a bad thing. In fact take advantage of the phenomenon.
Russell’s exceptional Multi Species trial
Both conditions and rainfall were perfect for Russell’s first MS crop. This was a cover crop to improve the soil and although the radish and turnips were a success. This should have been grazed to produce a form of cash crop and utilise the turnips as a form of fodder rather than clogging up the roller crimper.
